In-Office Foot Surgery
Dr. Eby's Chattanooga location features an in-office surgical suite. Most types of foot surgeries can be performed here, which could save the patient and their insurance company considerable expense.
Having foot surgery in a hospital almost always entails a higher out-of-pocket expense. For most patients, this could be a savings of several hundred dollars. For patients with no insurance coverage, the savings can be as high as thousands of dollars.
In-office surgery is usually under local anesthesia, but light sedation can be used in certain cases.
Patients typically are able to leave the office and be home within a few hours after their surgery. Local anesthesia can keep the patient pain free for up to 10 hours.
Use of a freestanding surgical center is available for patients requiring heavier sedation or general anesthesia.
Dianostic Ultrasound
Our state-of-the-art diagnostic ultrasound gives us an advantage over x-ray for soft tissue deformities and injuries of the foot and ankle.
This includes the ability to:
- See foreign objects in the foot which may not show in x-rays
- Measure the thickness of the plantar fascia to better treat heel pain
- Diagnose torn ligaments and tendons
- Help with needle placement for sclerosing injections
- Can help more accurately diagnose soft-tissue tumours and cysts
- In some casis, ultrasound can eliminate the need for a much more expensive MRI
